I am an artist interested in using play and humour as methods to approach a variety of topics. Often exploring my own feelings and experiences around the universal themes of love, fear, change, awkwardness, failure, anger, judgement, sadness, gender and relationships among others.
I work in a range of materials including textile, ceramic, paper mache, jesmonite, clay and found objects. My work also includes performance and creating immersive installations. I take inspiration from the everyday, pop art, cartoons, my favourite comedians and films.
My work usually begins with something personal, anecdotal, an experience and then by approaching this topic with humour it becomes relatable, flexible and accessible to hold different meanings for others. It is significant to me that humour connects to the viewer because I would like them to experience something of what I am also gaining from making the work. In turn I hope this creates a playfulness, with space for them to create their own narratives around the work. By taking my own experiences and reinventing them through this process I am finding a new ways to digest them and they take on new meanings.
I am currently studying an MA in Fine Art at City and Guilds Art School.
I have exhibited at The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2021.
